For those who wish to add an extra depth to their paranormal investigating, learning about the many nuances of astrological prediction can definitely become a beneficial bit of knowledge; especially when trying to determine the "high" and "low" tides of paranormal activities.
Although astrology is considered by many to be a "fraudulent science", I firmly believe in timing events in accordance with astrological events and I have seen the proof that astrology "works"; whether you choose to believe it or not.
The following list of astrological events was put together because of the "unusual" energies and influences they exert. It is important to remember that, like all astrological phenomena, these merely "set the stage" for certain types of energies. Many other factors need to be taken into consideration; such as environment, individuals involved (if any), and so on. To that end, you may use the following list as a reference...nothing more.
To find out when these events occur, you will need either an Ephemeris or a good astrological datebook. I would suggest purchasing both, as datebooks are not always 100% error-free.
The Moon--we will start with lunar placements, as the Moon seems to be directly involved with all things "mysterious", or even "creepy". Certain positions of the Moon throughout the course of her 28-day travel around the Zodiac can bring about certain "unusual" influences. The following sub-list should prove helpful: (note: this list is by no means complete. More will be added as I do more research)
~Moon at 00`-30`Scorpio-With the Moon moving through the deep, dark, intense sign of Scorpio, matters relating to death, secrets, and the hidden and forbidden are brought to the forefront. The paranormal activities closely related to this lunar placement are dreams of the dead, business with graves and tombs, solving mysteries, seances (especially well-aspected with Mercury), secrets hidden in water, cemetary activities, etc. With the Moon in this sign, there may be more of a drive to uncover the answer to something that's been eluding you, getting to the bottom of something or, on the flipside, burying something forever.
~Moon at 00`-30` Pisces-This Moon placement adds a dreamy, cosmic sort of energy to the air. The paranormal activities closely related to this lunar placement are psychic impressions, subtle intuitive insights, divination, and a general "unearthly" feeling to an area. It is important to remember that feelings or intuitions gained at this time are generally not trustworthy, as this lunar placement is ruled by the planet Neptune, the Great Deceiver. Paranormal recordings or photographs taken at this time may turn out to be false after closer examination. This is the Moon placement of the "urban legend", so do not take anything you hear or see at face value.
~Moon at 00`-30` Cancer-When the Moon moves into the protective and nurturing sign of Cancer, all hell can literally break loose! The Moon in Cancer highlights issues such as the home, the family, possessiveness, etc. The typical haunted house would be much more "active" at this time, especially if you are dealing with a protective, or guardian, spirit. I have also read that mothers can hear their deceased children crying more often during a Cancer Moon than at any other time (although I can't imagine how they figured that out!). This is one of those Moon signs that would seem to be a good time to hear disembodied voices whispering "Get out..." or the unhappy spirit of a landowner who continuously causes mischief for anyone stupid enough to take up residence on his property.
~Sun at 15` Scorpio-This is, of course, the astrological event that marks the true Samhain (Halloween). There are literally hundreds of books and publications dealing with this holiday, so I will not go into it here. Needless to say, this is one of the most paranormally active times of the year.
~Sun at 15` Taurus-It seems the Pagans have forgotten the paranormal significance of this date. Celebrated by earth religions and Satanists alike, Walpurgis (Beltane, May Day, etc.) is a time second only to Samhain for paranormal acitivites. The veil between worlds is, once again, thinned out, making communication with spirits and "ghostly" visions more likely.
~Mercury in Scorpio-With the communication planet traveling through the sign of death and secrets, it's time to get out the recording equipment and capture those spooky voices on tape. Spirit recordings are more likely at this time, as are attempts to make contact with the dead (however you choose to do so).
Once again, this list is NOT complete. As I find (or figure out) more correspondences, I will update this page. Obviously, not every event listed above will take place during the astrological event. However, being aware of when these events occur can give you a heads-up on what you can prepare for in your investigations and help you plan accordingly.
